Social Housing Providers!
As of the 1st October 2008, nearly all properties marketed for rent shall require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
For landlords and social housing providers with multiple and identical properties requiring an EPC, the option is available to use the Sampling Methodology to avoid having to have an Energy Assessment carried out on each of the identical properties.
Social Housing Sampling
Sampling is the process of selecting units from a population of interest, so that by surveying the sample you can fairly generalise the results and apply them to the production of EPC's for similar dwellings in the population from which they were chosen. The advantages of sampling are generally appreciated and include Time Savings, Cost Savings and Enviromental Responsibility.
Domestic-Energy-Assessors.Co.Uk have achieved accreditation for the 'Sampling of Housing Stock' and the issuing of 'Cloned EPC's'.
The Sampling Process
There are three phases that will enable the social housing provider and DEA to deliver Energy Performance Certificates to a consistant standard in the social housing rented sector.
Housing Stock Analysis
Visual Inspection of Group and Sample Selection
Analysis of Results of Sampling
Further information regarding Social Housing Sampling is described with the Communities and Local Government publication 'Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) in the Social Rented Sector or click on the following Communities and Local Government link http://www.communities.gov.uk
